- What’s the difference between joining a surf school and surf camp?

Traditionally surf camps cater more for experienced surfers who want accommodation and meals included in a package.  The standard would be to offer surf guides for experienced surfers to explore different locations from a fixed base. Most surf camps are not suitable for less experienced surfers who wish to learn surfing. Prices do not usually include surf lessons or board hire.  Surf lessons at surf camps are usually a weak point, with no proper structured learning programme…

Alternatively, surf schools offer surf lessons, but no accommodation and meals. Surf schools have the benefit of being flexible and cheaper as you can choose accommodation yourself and decide when to start and finish. However, surf schools have the disadvantage of not having any social gathering scene after lessons are over. Except at our current location, which blends into part of the highly popular ESC Ocean Beach Club, a trendy and happening night life spot, and some of the best food on the island.

Recognizing this, Pro Surf is developing a new surf camp concept tied into a top rate learn to surf programme which gives guests the flexibility to choose what they wish to do. Check out the surf camp programme for more information. Top

- How difficult is learning to surf?

Surfing is one of the most difficult sports to learn. With the right coaching and technique you should be able to catch a small wave and stand up on your first lesson. In fact we guarantee you will stand up on your first lesson or we give you an additional lesson for free!!

Basic swimming skills is sufficient at beginner level. For the more intermediate classes you will need a high level of fitness and be a competent swimmer.

- If I decide to take the package, must I take the lessons consecutively?

No you don’t. We are very flexible. You can take your lessons any time any day to fit your holiday and activity schedule. Our lessons runs daily for all levels except for advance classes. Top

- What is the average age of students at your school?

The average age of our surf students is between 20 to 30 years.
Our youngest ever student is 3 years old our oldest is 74 years old and yes they were standing up and riding waves!

For safety reasons children under the age of 12 years old are required to participate in semi private lessons. We separate kids under the age of 15 years old and adult classes, to save the adults the embarrassment of doing less well!
Minimum age for the surf camp is 17 years old. Top

- I’m not too sure weather I will enjoy surfing?

We usually allow you to try out one surf class before you decide what package to take if you want the discount deal.

So you are not tied in to any commitment if you decide surfing is not for you.
However if you decide to continue and take a discount package we will require you to pay in advance before you take further lessons.

If you want to pay day by day, you pay standard price each time you take a lesson. Top

- How should I pay for my lessons?

We accept cash in the following currencies:

EURO, AUD, USD, IDR, SIND

Or any major credit cards are also welcome. Top

- I am not a very good swimmer, but I want to try out surfing?

Yes you can. At the beginner level we teach at waist deep water to focus on balance and standing. We select small, rolling waves on soft sand bottom to make it safe & easier to learn.  Provided you do not have any deep seeded fear of the ocean and waves you will have a great time. The minimum requirement however is your ability to swim, it doesn’t matter how weak you are at it. Top

- I want to overcome my fear of the ocean by learning to surf?

Even the best surfers in the world have respect and some fear of the ocean, this is normal. If you have deep underlying fear of the ocean, its best to let us know about it and we can organise a special private surf session to work on your concerns. Top
